Wave Hill Bakers
January 28, 2006
Listen to this feature (How to listen)
Bakers Mitchell Rapoport and Margaret Sapir make only one thing at their bakery off Route 7 in Wilton: an exquisite three-grain Pain de Campagne. There's no need for a larger repertoire when this loaf alone is quite possibly the best bread on the east coast, according to Michael.
Happily, the bakeshop is only a mile from the Sterns' house so the bread-obsessed Michael stops by several times a week to pick up a gorgeous loaf or two. But he claims it's well worth the trip if you happen to be anywhere near southern Connecticut.
