September 2, 2000
Listen to this feature (RealAudio 3.0; how to listen)
On a recent trip to Portugal, Master of Wine Mary Ewing-Mulligan, author of the Wine for Dummies series of books, discovered some delicious and undervalued red wines. Along with João Portugal Ramos, a winemaker Mary especially likes, her other picks come from the Douro Valley region in the mountains of northern Portugal and the Alentejo region in the southeast:
Douro Valley Region: Quinta do Crasto (more available in the United States), Quinta do Valado, and Quinta do Valle do Dora Maria.
Alentejo Region: Quinta do Carmo.
